April 22, 2014 Troop Committee Minutes

Treasurer’s Report

None given

Fundraising

5 boys are selling candy ($22 profit)/beef jerky ($20 profit).  April is looking into restaurant fundraiser at Wendy’s.  Another group made $150 profit in one night.

Unit Commissioner’s Report

None given

Advancement Report

We need April to be registered with Council so she has access to Troop documents.  She did the Committee Challenge training.

COR training for Pastors will hopefully be at the end of August with Mark Henkle for both Muncy Cub and Boy Scouts.

Citizenship in the Community merit badge counselor should be returning Tues May 6th (confirm date and meeting will be at Park) to finish up that merit badge with the boys that are working on #4, 7, and 8 (writing about an issue in their area and a presentation).

Equipment Report

Camp stoves will be taken to Lyons for servicing.

Service and Good Turn

Highway cleanup scheduled Sunday 5/18.  We need to let John Lamoreaux know.  Wendy said we have enough supplies.

Scoutmaster Minutes

Discussion was held on returning to a traditionally Scout-led meeting now that patrols have been established, including the following parts:

SPL planning to do a 10-15 minutes activity each meeting, PL doing 10 minutes directed activity, having patrol leader meetings with troop leader possibly 15 minutes before the first Tuesday of every month to get the boys organized and help them plan.

Glade Run cleanup will be done after the creek dries out.

Beginning Tuesday May 6th the Scouts will be meeting at Lions Park for their summer meetings.

Bill Stroup via the Muncy Legion asked for Boy Scouts to help clean/mulch their Memorial.  Possibly could be done on a Tuesday.

New Business

District needs camp tuition paid in full for the Troop by May 1st.  Camp money still owed by boys of Troop 25 is due at the Tuesday, April 29th meeting.  Wednesday the 30th the money will be taken up to District Council.

A refund check from Montour Preserve was received.

For the May 17/18th campout neither Chris nor Don are available to camp.  We need to confirm when going as a troop, who else is permitted to serve as Leader.  The boys need to find out if Tucker (fishing merit badge counselor) is available that weekend or whether the boys need to contact another counselor.  Camping will be on Black Hollow Road on Allen Fry’s property.

Discussion for getting Assistant Scout Leaders was held (Mike Coppes and anyone else interested), as well as when those trainings to certify would be held.  April found out that next Scout Master Specific training will be held May 19-20-21.  Intro to Outdoor leadership is also in August.

May 17-18 – Campout with emphasis on working towards Cooking and Fishing badges.  Need to verify Leadership going and merit badge counselors)

May 27 – (4th Tuesday of the month) Committee meeting

May 18 – Road Cleanup

June 21 – MVH Lawn Party

June 27-28 – help set up tents, etc at the Resurrection Catholic Church

July 6-12 – Scout Camp!!
